Which “names of god” is vinearts looking for?

Church and community members are welcome to participate regardless of spiritual background. However, we ask that all entries be extra-sensitive to the context of our gallery, which is a Christian church. While many religions and spiritualities have names for “a god” they worship, this show is about One God, that is the Judeo-Christian God as portrayed in the Old and New Testaments of Christian Scripture. VineArts reserves the right to reject any submissions that portray God as anything other than this. If you have any questions or concerns about your entry, you are always welcome to contact us before creating or submitting your entry.

Does my entry have to be a name of God from the christian bible?

First, research and see if you can find a Biblical name that inspires you. Remember that names can come from any and all language translations, not just Hebrew, Greek or Aramaic. Try looking up Names of God in Korean, Burmese, or Spanish. If you find a name of God that doesn’t come from the Bible or you are unsure about, you are always welcome to contact us before creating or submitting your entry.

Can I create an entry about more than one name?

Of course!

Is this a juried show?

Yes, it is. Our jury consists of VineArts leaders and Vineyard Boise staff members. A “juried show” means that every submission is not automatically accepted into the show. We jury for content and safety, not skill. What this means is that we’re only flagging entries that may be potentially divisive, confusing, triggering, or harmful physically or emotionally. We also cannot accept any entries or artist statements that misrepresent or contradict our values as a church to love God and to love people. You can view our statement of faith here. More information is available in the entry packets/online form. If you’ve got a question or concern, please don’t hesitate to ask! There is no entry fee.

How LONG IS THE gallery SHOW?

VineArts hosts two shows a year and each show lasts approximately 6 months. “Names of God” will be up until Spring 2025 (exact date TBA).

Where will the gallery show be displayed?

Roof repairs over our usual VineArts Gallery Hallway have been taking place since January 2024 due to heavy rains and snow. The repair has been continually delayed due to the insurance companies involved. Because we are unsure about the timing of the full roof repair, the gallery show may take place in other spaces on campus besides our normal hallway. Submitting artists must be willing to allow the VineArts Install team to make the best decision about art placement when the time comes.

I’m out of state. Can I still participate?

Sorry, we are a local (treasure valley) gallery only. That means that we will not accept mailed art entries at this time.
