About the show

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Ecc. 3:1 (KJV)

VineArts invites creatives of all ages and skill levels to submit creative work about seasons - literal or metaphorical. It could be a beautiful photograph of the Sawtooths in the fall or a tree blossoming in spring. Maybe it’s a painted portrait of an elderly woman in the “winter” of her life. Or maybe you want to explore the spiritual seasons you’ve been through using pottery, quilting, poetry or a short story. Whatever “seasons” brings to mind, we’d love to see it!

Important note: Due to building repairs, the show will utilize the walls in the main entrance space, called Heritage Hall, and the book store located right beside it. This is instead of our usual “VineArts Hallway” Gallery space.

frequently asked questions

What’s the deal with the building repairs?

Roof repairs have been taking place since January 2024 due to heavy rains and snow. The roof over our usual gallery space is no longer a good bet for hanging your precious works of art. The repair has been continually delayed due to the insurance companies involved. Fortunately, with permission from the Vineyard Boise staff and facilities team, we are able to pivot and use a different space within the church to display our "Seasons" show. We will be utilizing the main entrance space, called Heritage Hall, and the book store located right beside it. The great part of this is that it is in a more highly visible location for the church and other community groups that use our campus! We are doing everything we can to ensure that your art and entries are in good care.

Does my entry have to be religious?

Religious or Biblical themes are not required for this show. Church and community members are welcome to participate regardless of spiritual background. However, we ask that all entries be sensitive to the context of our gallery, which is a Christian church. We will not accept any entries or artist statements that misrepresent or contradict our values as a church to love God and to love people. You can view our statement of faith here.

What are acceptable mediums for this show?

This spring show is a gallery-only exhibit for things hung on the wall or displayed on a pedestal or in a case. Our fall show will feature a performing arts showcase, so stay tuned for more information in spring 2024. Acceptable gallery mediums include: visual artwork (2D & 3D), photography, and creative writing. Learn more about media-specific guidelines for Visual Art & Creative Writing Entries (coming soon).

Is this a juried show?

Yes, it is. Our jury consists of VineArts leaders and Vineyard Boise staff members. A “juried show” means that every submission is not automatically accepted into the show. We jury for content and safety, not skill. What this means is that we’re only flagging entries that may be potentially divisive, confusing, triggering, or harmful physically or emotionally. More information is available in the entry packets. If you’ve got a question or concern, please don’t hesitate to ask! There is no entry fee.

How LONG IS THE gallery SHOW?

VineArts hosts two shows a year and each show lasts approximately 6 months. “ Seasons” will be up until September 2024 (exact date TBA).

I’m out of state. Can I still participate?

Sorry, we are a local (treasure valley) gallery only. That means that we will not accept mailed art entires at this time.
